Regarding the painting of bridge steel structures, there are specific national standards, namely, the anti-corrosion coating system for bridge steel structures. Different regions have different atmospheric environments and geographical locations, so the appropriate anti-corrosion systems will vary.
For example, the anti-corrosion coatings commonly used in the Anhui Yangtze River-Huaihe River Water Diversion Project are all above 220μm. The base layer is an epoxy zinc-rich primer, the intermediate layer is an epoxy micaceous iron oxide intermediate paint, and the top layer is an acrylic aliphatic topcoat (polyurethane). The Liuzhou urban light rail project (Skyrail) also uses an epoxy zinc-rich primer, an epoxy thick-film intermediate paint, and a variety of topcoats. Some require waterproofing, which is applied by the manufacturer, and others require rust-preventive paint.
In short, it depends on the design requirements and the specific geographical location and atmospheric environment.
