Beijing Tianjin Intercity Rail Transit Project

The Beijing Tianjin Intercity Railway, also known as the Beijing Tianjin Intercity Rail Transit, is an intercity passenger dedicated line connecting Beijing and Tianjin. It is also an important component of the intercity rail transit network in the Bohai Sea region of China's "Medium - and Long Term Railway Network Plan". The designed speed for this line is 350 kilometers per hour. In January 2013, the Beijing Tianjin intercity railway project won the first prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award.

The starting point of the Beijing Tianjin Intercity Railway is Beijing South Station, and the endpoint is Tianjin Station. Some trains terminate at Tanggu Station. The total length of the line is 120 kilometers, including 113.6 kilometers of ballastless track. The entire line has five stations: Beijing South, Yizhuang, Yongle, Wuqing, and Tianjin. The entire line officially started construction on July 4, 2005 and was put into operation on August 1, 2008. Starting from midnight on December 28, 2013, a new intercity train schedule for Beijing Tianjin will be implemented, adding trains from Tianjin West Station to Beijing South Station.

Starting from September 20, 2015, the Beijing Tianjin intercity train will implement a new timetable. The characteristics of public transportation operation will be more obvious, with a minimum departure interval of only 5 minutes and intervals of no more than 25 minutes during other time periods.

On the afternoon of September 26, 2014, all members of the National Acceptance Committee for the Beijing Tianjin Intercity Railway discussed and unanimously passed the National Acceptance Certificate for the Beijing Tianjin Intercity Railway.

The extension of the Beijing Tianjin intercity railway to the Jiabao project started construction on September 1, 2009 and was officially opened on September 20, 2015. The main line of the extension line has a total length of 44.75 kilometers and is designed according to the standards of high-speed passenger dedicated lines, with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The route starts from the intercity yard of Tianjin Station, passes through Junliangcheng North Station and Tanggu Station along the way, and finally arrives at Yujiapu Station located in the core area of the central business district of Tianjin Binhai New Area.
