The National Centre for the Performing Arts of China is located on the west side of Tiananmen Square in the center of Beijing. It is the highest hall of Chinese performing arts, the largest platform for cultural exchange between China and foreign countries, and an important base for China's cultural and creative industries.

From the first project of the National Centre for the Performing Arts to its official operation, it took 49 years. The design proposal underwent three rounds of bidding and two revisions, with a total cost of 3.067 billion yuan. Designed by French architect Paul Andreu and designed by the Paris Airport Company in France. Covering an area of 118900 square meters, the total construction area is approximately 165000 square meters, including 105000 square meters of the main building and 60000 square meters of underground ancillary facilities. There are supporting facilities such as an opera house, concert hall, theater, art exhibition hall, art exchange center, and audio-visual store.
